Lothian Vineyards Brut Rosé MCC 2015

Writer's picture: Jaco MeyerJaco Meyer

This MCC Brut Rosé from Lothian Vineyards is something different when compared with its contemporaries. It is made exclusively from Pinot Noir from Elgin.

This wine has an orange-pink colour that is displayed proudly in the clear glass bottle. In the glass it appears as a more serious red MCC with delicate bubbles. On the nose, you immediately get the idea that this is a serious and complex wine with grapefruit and strawberries, as well as some earth and a hint of dried mushrooms. It has a soft entry on the palate that quickly bring the tropical fruit flavours forward. Raspberries, strawberries, cream and caramel are prominent on the palate. It has a dry entry that leaves the palate with a slight minerality.

To do this wine justice, I will not recommend that one starts with this wine right away. You either need to pair it with food or have a bit of a line-up for this more serious MCC. However, once it is in your glass, you will have a good experience of this complex wine.
