I am always hesitant to present a Rosé at a tasting because the expectation and ideas that people have about Rosé is challenging. I presented the Lothian Isobel Rosé to a group of people who indicated beforehand that they prefer sweet Rosé's – and there I go and give them a bone dry Rosé. I warned them beforehand and prepared them for the tasting. Let's look at the colour that is a lovely rose pink with orange hints. On the nose, you pick up some red berries, rose petals, and Turkish delight. At first the wine has a soft entry, exploding with multiple fresh fruits and tropical fruits on the palate. The best part is opening your mouth to bring it into contact with some oxygen, and you get a strong aftertaste of raspberries. In the end, everyone was playing around with the multiple flavours and bouquets that this wine offer, that they forgot that they actually prefer sweet Rosé's.
For the person who likes a good Rosé, this will be a great one to try from a boutique winery. It is fresh with a good acidity. It is fruity and complex. Definitely worth a try – I will highly recommend that you put this on your Rosé list of wines to try out! This wine is available from Partners in Wine.
