Neil Ellis Wild Flower Rosé 2022

Writer: Jaco MeyerJaco Meyer

The Neil Ellis Wild Flower Rosé is a dry rosé, made from Cinsault. It has an inviting and colourful label. In the glass, this wine has a rose gold colour with an amber hue. It is forthcoming on the nose with notes of ripe strawberries, ripe cherries and quinces. On the palate, the strawberries deliver well with hints of candyfloss, juniper berries and pepper. The wild (red) flower taste is evident throughout this wine’s development on the palate. It has a quick but fruity finish.

The grapes of this wine spent minimal time on their skins before they were cold fermented. The wine spent some time on its lees to create a smooth mouthfeel that makes this a subtle wine, but yet with the necessary freshness and acidity one would expect of this typical summer drink. This is a beautiful and elegant wine, but simple and straightforward. Serve chilled and enjoy on its own, or with a salmon starter.
