The Bosman Nero wine is a very unique wine, as it is the only wine in South Africa that is currently made from the Nero d'Avola grape variety, a Sicilian red grape variety that produces fruity and spicy red wines. This wine is associated with the television personality Thapelo Mokoena. The vineyards of Nero d'Avola are planted in Wellington, that enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate with unique climatic pockets.

In the glass, this wine has a light burgundy red colour. The nose is complex with notes of red berries, sweet oak spice, leather and savouriness. The palate follows through well from the nose with red berries, raspberries, black berries, fresh black cherries, savoury notes, leather and spice. It is all held together with high acidity and medium tannins. The wine has a long fruity finish.

Apart from being an interesting grape variety, this wine is very approachable and easy-drinking, but offering enough substance for those wanting a bit more structure. It will benefit a slight chill and does not need to be decanted. It can be enjoyed on its own in big Bordeaux glasses or paired with a sirloin steak, oxtail or a hearty stew. It is ready to drink now or in the next 7+ years.
