I received a bottle of Eagle's Nest Viognier 2019 as a gift from friends with the instruction that I should taste this wine. Now that is already a good step forward for any winery if the wine gets marketed on a social level. I had the wine in my cellar for a few months and recently opened it on a warm summer's day. It was a superb choice!

The wine has a pale straw colour that is slightly hazy. It is extremely forthcoming on the nose as I picked up some aromas in the glass from far away. These notes comprised of tropical fruits, tangerine peel, green asparagus and jasmine. It delivers well on the palate with a fresh entry of lime, green fruits, and green peppercorns. It has a high acidity that focuses on the side of the palate, and some oiliness on the middle palate, characteristic of Viognier. It remains fresh and no malolactic conversion seems to be present due to a maintained freshness and acidity. It develops well on the palate with a good length finish of herbs, lime, jasmine and fresh almonds. These flavours linger for quite some time.

I enjoyed this Viognier and am thankful that I was introduced to this wine. Thank you to Jaye and Vivian for this!
