The Ernie Els Signature Red Blend is the flagship blend of the Ernie Els wines, created with care by Louis Strydom. The wine is presented in a beautiful red box with an inlay of the farm. Since the farm officially opened in 2004, their focus has been on quality wines and this one is no different from the vision that they had for their wines.
In the glass, this wine offers a dark ruby colour with a complex nose of eucalyptus, plums, cherry tobacco and black fruit. It delivers well on the palate with blackcurrant, red cherries, eucalyptus, cherry tobacco, pencil shavings and mint. Although it is complex on both the nose and palate, it remains elegant with very round tannins and it is fruit-forward. It was aged for 20 months in 300 litre French oak barrels (70% new), contributing to a great balance and more complex structure.
This wine is really impressive and a good wine for all occasions. It will work very well with a good beef roast or ribeye steak. It can be decanted 30 minutes before enjoying. It is a really great wine that everyone should at least try once.
