The Fryer’s Cove Bamboes Bay Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most unusual Sauvignon Blancs on the market. In order to find something close to this, you will need to age a rather good (and pretty expensive) Sauvignon Blanc for several years. Luckily, with the Bamboes Bay Sauvignon Blanc, you can get it right away, at a reasonable price. Although unusual, it is a spectacular wine for many and certainly something that every person who loves wine must try out!
In the glass, this wine offers a dark golden yellow colour with a good consistency. The nose offers tinned asparagus, seaweed, citrus and tropical fruit. The entry on the palate is elegant, but with a gripping and fresh acidity. The tinned asparagus delivers very well on this wine, dominating the flavours on the palate at first, followed by more subtle notes of lemon, passionfruit, white pear, stone minerality and sea salt. The minerality and saline notes pull through to the finish of this wine. It is a well-balanced wine with both a creamy, but crisp mouthfeel.
This wine will work exceptionally well with gourmet pizzas, chicken pasta, some roasted vegetables and light red meats, as well as spicy stews. It is recommended to serve this wine cold and in a slightly larger glass. It has a good ageing potential, possibly 7+ years, but is also good to enjoy now.
