Hermanuspietersfontein's Kaalvoet Meisie is a fantastic Sauvignon Blanc. That should be said right from the start! It contains a small amount of Nouvelle and Sémillon that contribute towards the perfect blend.
It has a pale yellow colour with a green tinge and forthcoming on the nose. It has notes of green apple, fynbos and lime. It is extremely fresh on the palate, concentrates well on the palate and is well balanced. Upon entry, it activates the sides of your tongue with a lime and apple taste, passion fruit , and a hint of gooseberries. The wine develops into a salinity and minerality that contributes to the structure of this rather complex wine.
Every sip of this wine is a little explosion inside your mouth, but yet soft and elegant. This is the ideal wine for a hot Saturday afternoon when you are winding down and getting ready for a braai. It is certainly among my top list of Sauvignon Blancs!
