The Jordan Long Fuse Cabernet Sauvignon is a very typical Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon, with a great terroir expression. Jordan, as a relatively young wine producer, made good impressions with several of their wines and this Estate range Cabernet Sauvignon should not be underestimated, nor is it inferior to similar wines in other ranges. This is confirmed by the winery's library offerings of this wine, emphasising its ageing potential. The name of this wine refers to the granite soils that were blown up with dynamite so that the Cabernet Sauvignon can be planted in rich granite soils, assisting with drainage to improve vine vigour and deep roots that deliver concentrated fruit flavours with a mineral hint.

In the glass, this wine has a deep ruby colour and it is forthcoming on the nose. Black and red fruit on the nose, with some herbal hints and earthy notes make up a complex promise of what it is about to deliver on the palate. The entry is structured, with blackcurrant, redcurrant, ripe black plums, and forest leaves on the foreground. Some black cherries, red flowers, milk chocolate and tobacco leaf follow soon after, when a good balance between the fruit, acidity and alcohol becomes noticeable on the palate. The tannins are overall integrated well and are slightly rounded. It has a long finish of fruit and tannins.

This wine can be enjoyed on its own or with food. It will work well with a ribeye steak or lamb chops and roasted vegetables. It is fair value for money and certainly worth a try!
