Ken Forrester Old Vine Reserve Chenin Blanc 2021

Writer's picture: Jaco MeyerJaco Meyer

The Ken Forrester Old Vine Reserve Chenin Blanc of 2021 was announced the Best in Show at the 2022 Decanter World Wine Awards, making it the best Chenin Blanc in the world. That obviously sparked much interes

This wine has a light-yellow colour with a golden hue. It is fresh and fruit-forward on the nose, hinting medium complex notes of green melon, green apples and oak spices. It follows through well on the palate as it is fruit-forward: green apples, green melon, honeycomb and hints of caramel. It balances well on the palate and maintains its freshness throughout. This wine has a smooth finish of honeycomb and hints of minerality. Although it is a new style wine with much freshness, there is also a more delicate part to the mouthfeel that is probably from the extended lees contact.
