The Krone Amphora Blanc de Blancs is part of the new trend to use amphoras more in the vinification process of South African wines. This is an intense wine with zero dosage and much structure and depth.
This wine has a pale straw colour with reserved bubbles. It has a complex nose of apples, citrus, pears and roasted nuts. Upon entry, this wine immediately tantalises the entire palate with its complexity and good acidity that provides structure to this wine. Green apples, lemons, lemongrass, pears and roasted almonds are evident on the mid-palate, finishing off with fresh green apple and citrus notes. The mousse is fine throughout with a dry and citrus-like finish.
This wine should be served chilled. It is an ideal wine to go with a green Thai curry dish. The use of the amphora causes this wine to lean more towards the preferences of those who prefer a structured and complex wine.
