The KWV Roodeberg is a signature blend that is a household product for many consumers. It is a unique blend of several grape varieties, mostly Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, from various climatic pockets of the Western Cape.
This wine has a ruby red colour, with an aromatic nose of red fruit, black fruit, spices and vanilla. It has a soft entry on the palate, with raspberries, mulberries, blackberries, plums and hints of black cherries. Spicy oak notes follow against a good structure of soft tannins, due to 14 months in French oak (there has been some American oak for small parts of the Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon). It has a long, fresh finish.
This wine can be enjoyed on its own or with a braai, potjiekos, burgers, pizza or tomato-based pasta. It can be chilled slightly and does not need to be decanted. It is good value for money.
