Le Pommier means "apple tree" in French and the name of this brand links to the apple orchard that was once in this area. The Le Pommier Sauvignon Blanc has a light-yellow colour with a green hue. It is forthcoming on the nose with fresh notes of gooseberries, lemon, lemon peel and some green herbs in the background. It is a fresh wine on the palate with some good acidity throughout. It has a sweet entry with an immediate striking acidity on the side of the palate, but the acidity subsides quickly and some fruity notes come forward. It delivers well from what it promises on the nose with green apple in the foreground, followed by tropical notes and a fresh green melon finish. Although the herbaceousness does not follow through, it has a good length in its finish.
This is a light-bodied Sauvignon Blanc and offers value for money. I recommend that this wine is enjoyed now or within the next year.
