The Lothian Riesling is the first South African Riesling I ever presented at a wine tasting. Since this is a bone-dry Riesling, I was not sure how it will be received. But it was received with much enthusiasm. This wine is made by Richard Kershaw, one of the few winemaking Masters of Wine.
This wine has a light-yellow colour and is forthcoming on the nose with notes of fresh grapefruit, pineapple and lemon. It delivers on the palate with a dry entry, lemon zest, and green gooseberries. Some possible TCA was picked up on the sample tasted. It finished with a stone minerality and fresh tropical fruit.
This wine will pair well with biryani, chicken or cheesy dishes. It should be served chilled. This wine is available from Partners in Wine.
