The Niel Joubert Klein Kloof Sauvignon Blanc is one of their export wines and, therefore, South African buyers will not easily see this on their shelves unfortunately. I am glad that I could get my hands on some overrun stock and share it with the members of the Decanter Wine Club.
This wine has a pale-yellow colour and it is not too shy on the nose. Notes of fig, gooseberries, tropical fruit and green pepper are present on the nose. It follows through well with a fresh acidity, lemon, gooseberries, fresh green figs, guava and green pepper on the palate. The wine develops quickly on the palate and leaves a fresh acidity behind and some prominent notes of the fresh green figs.
This is an easy-drinking wine that is not too complex and ideal for all occasions, especially given its price.
