The Saronsberg Viognier is a fantastic white wine from the Tulbagh-based winery and delivers some of the best Viognier that one can find in South Africa.
In the glass, it has a pale-yellow colour, with fresh and forthcoming notes of orange blossom and apricots. It delivers well on the palate, with an elegant finish, bringing forth the apricots and ripe white pear. White floral notes and honey follow soon after. It has a good acidity for Viognier and it finishes off with a slight stone minerality. It is an excellent medium-bodied wine.
This wine should be served chilled in a white wine glass. It can be enjoyed by itself, or with creamy pastas, chicken or shrimps. It is excellent value for money and certainly a crowd-pleaser. Next time, when looking for something different, do not forget about this excellent Viognier!
