The Stellenview Kruger Family Reserve Marguerite MCC Brut is a phenomenal MCC that is a true crowd-pleaser. It is a wine that is just right in so many aspects and that is gaining more and more of the recognition that it deserves. From the Devon Valley in Stellenbosch, this wine is a blend of 81% Chardonnay and 19% Pinot Noir.

In the glass, it displays lively bubbles and has a pale-yellow to golden straw colour. The nose is complex with hints of apples, stone fruit, tropical fruit, honeysuckle and jasmine. The entry on the palate is very fresh, yet elegant and it delivers well on the palate what it promised on the nose. Layered notes of green apples, fresh green pear, mango, cooked quince, apricot jam, beeswax and honey develop alongside brioche notes. It is not overly yeasty, it remains fresh throughout and has a long finish of fruit and a slight spiciness coming through. The overall balance of this wine is impressive.

This is an exceptional MCC and should certainly be tried among bubble lovers! It will go well on its own as an aperitif, or with oysters, line fish, seafood, chicken and salads. It should be served cold in a flute glass. This wine is already showing well, six years down the line, and will continue to do so for the next 7-8 years. It is good value for money.
