Stellenzicht Arenite Syrah 2019

Stellenzicht, with its beautiful view of Stellenbosch, is synonymous with Syrah. The name of the Arenite Syrah refers to the sandstone on the farm in which the vines for this wine are planted. The grapes are whole bunch fermented for up to 12 days and matured in French oak barrels for up to 15 months.

In the glass, this wine has a deep ruby colour and hints red and black fruit on the nose. It delivers well with a medium-bodied wine on the palate. Plums, violets and cracked peppercorns are prominent on the palate, with further hints of leather and some savoury notes, as the wine develops on the palate. It has a good finish that is both floral and spicy.

This wine pairs well with red meat, a creamy tomato pasta and kabeljou. It can be decanted to bring some of the more delicate notes forward. Only 6600 bottles of this wine have been produced.
