This wine starts with an interesting story of how friends gathered over a dinner in 2013 and decided that they want to produce their own wine. Today, this wine is strongly associated with Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers, who were the main drivers in creating this wine. It is made by Wynand Grobler of Infinity Wines.
In the glass, this wine has a medium red colour with a slight brown hint. It has a complex nose of oak spice, spices, tobacco and dark chocolate. It delivers well on the palate with red fruit, black fruit, cherry tobacco, chocolate and strong peppery spices. The cherry tobacco is very forward on this wine and creates the impression that it explodes on the palate. It has a long finish of spices, leaving a soft mouthfeel behind.
This is a great wine to enjoy on its own, but will make a good companion to potjiekos, venison barbecue or a hearty vegetarian lasagne. It will benefit from a slight chill and does not need to be decanted.
