The Last Arrow Marsanne 2023 is a 100% Marsanne from Wellington, a grape variety mostly found in white Rhône-style blends, but here presented as a single varietal expression by one of the few producers working with it in this way.

In the glass, it shows a deep golden colour. The nose is expressive and aromatic, with notes of orange blossom, apricot, stone fruit and a clear presence of honey. On the palate, the wine is soft and elegant, echoing the apricot, honey and floral notes, while adding layers of white peach, nuts and a touch of marzipan. Hints of orange rind develop towards the mid-palate, followed by a long finish where subtle oak spice and a slightly herbaceous note come through. The mouthfeel is typically oily, and the wine carries itself with a rounded texture.

This is an interesting and unique wine that stands out for its rarity and distinctive profile. It will pair well with spicy dishes such as a Thai green curry. It is best served slightly cooler rather than very cold, as over-chilling may cause the wine to close up. The wine has the potential to develop over the next five years.
