Van Zijl Family Vintners Elizabeth Francoisnette MCC 2020

Writer's picture: Jaco MeyerJaco Meyer

Made from the three grape varieties that we find in Champagne, this MCC provides something that will knock your socks off if you love a good sparkling wine. First, you have an elegant label with clear information, also on the grape varieties used. Then you have some elegant bubbles in your glass with a light green-yellow colour. It is forthcoming on the nose with lime, apple, grapefruit and biscuits. It has a fantastic, fresh entry that remains there throughout – this wine did not undergo malolactic conversion, so it retains its freshness well. I haven't tasted an MCC that develops so well on the palate in a long time! Once it hits your palate, it is a slow development of white fruits, flowers and bread crumbs. It lingers for a long time with a fresh finish. I can confidently say that this is one of the top MCC's made in South Africa and is a must-try! It comes at a very good price and is available from Partners in Wine.
