The Vin Par Essie Winery is owned by Esser Banda from Namibia, taking huge pride in the Namibian ownership of the farm located in Stellenbosch. With the Namibian flag displayed on the back of the bottle and the emphasis on the Namibian owner, consumers could get confused to think that this is a Namibian wine, but it is important to place the origin of the wine in Stellenbosch, South Africa. With a focus on sparkling wines, one Sauvignon Blanc and one red blend, they have an interesting portfolio of wines and do amazing work to underprivileged people in Namibia through the Esba Pendukeni Foundation by donating a portion of their profit to this charity organisation.

In the glass, this wine has a light Burgundy red colour. On the nose, it offers sweet oak spice, liquorice, plums and raspberries. It delivers very well on the palate what it promises on the nose, adding some black cherries and blackcurrant. The tannins are extremely elegant and very well integrated through careful oaking, you almost do not notice the tannins. It has a long, clean finish of oak spice. This wine is exceptionally light in style and it is almost hard to believe that it is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, as many of the bolder notes from these varieties are absent in this wine.

This wine can benefit from slight chilling and can be enjoyed on its own or with food. It will go well with pasta dishes, pork chops, roasted chicken and venison. It can be enjoyed now or cellared for up to three years. It is not necessary to decant this wine.
