Wellington Wines Duke Pinotage 2023

Writer's picture: Jaco MeyerJaco Meyer

The Wellington Wines Duke Pinotage is one of a handful white wines, made from red grape varieties. It is salmon pink in colour due to slight skin contact during the production process, as skin contact was prevented after crushing and the free run juice was separated from the skins. In this way, we can enjoy 100% Pinotage free run juice, without the influence of skin contact. It makes an interesting wine that is something different.

In the glass, this wine has a salmon to light pink colour. It is forthcoming on the nose with notes of red apples, red cherries and tropical fruit. It is quite surprising on the palate, because of an underlying complexity. It delivers well on the palate with notes of red apples, cherries, white peaches and Christmas spices. It is a light-bodied style wine. It has a long finish of red fruit.

This wine is best served chilled and can be enjoyed on its own or with simple starters such as carpaccio, a fruity green salad or chicken breast. It is ready to drink now or within the next two years. It is a fine wine to enjoy casually.
