This was one of the few white wines that we bought at an Italian wine tasting. We loved the blended Chardonnay that was brought to absolute perfection through the addition of the other grapes that brought the complex notes of the Chardonnay forward. In the glass, this wine had a light-yellow colour with a light edge. On the nose, the complex notes of lemon, lime, star anise, creamy vanilla and almonds come forward. That is exactly what you get on the palate: a full-bodied wine that you need to roll on your tongue to experience the full complexity of this wine.
We took this bottle to an Italian restaurant, thinking that it will be appropriate for the truffle risotto and Italian beef Wellington. We could not have chosen something better! This wine cut through all the complexities of the food and complemented the entire three-course dinner very well. When the waiter took this bottle out of the ice bucket to serve it, he was extremely intrigued by the wine. Later on, we called our waiter and the manager and offered them a taste of this wine. It was clear that they were just as impressed with it than what we were.
I am very happy that we bought this bottle of wine and it is a pity that I do not have any more of them. Drinking it seven years later was also a good choice, I don't think that it is a wine that will age well after ten years.
